What pool work costs in Etobicoke

Etobicoke is one of 5 areas we cover in Toronto, and it prices off the same Toronto route as the rest of the municipality. What changes block to block is access: gate width, side-yard clearance, decking and where the truck can park.

Etobicoke shares the Toronto dispatch day, and the schedule is set by route density rather than by neighbourhood. We do not publish Etobicoke-specific intersections or landmarks, because we have not verified which ones crews actually use — the postal prefixes above are the coverage detail we can stand behind.

Toronto's mix of 1950s bungalows and newer infill means a lot of narrow side yards, gated access and shared driveways. Expect a short access surcharge when equipment has to be carried more than 75 feet.

Local rules

Draining and backflow in Toronto

Pool water is regulated by Toronto, not by the contractor. These are the rules that actually apply when a crew drains a pool or hooks a fill line to the municipal supply — checked against official sources on 2 November 2026.

Pool water discharge

  • Chlorinated pool water may go to the storm sewer only after it has been dechlorinated, and not on a day when rain is forecast.
  • The city's storm limits are chlorine 0.01 mg/L, copper 0.04 mg/L and pH 6–9.5.
  • Salt water never goes to a storm sewer. It goes to the sanitary connection on your own property, or to an approved hauler.
  • Pool water can never be discharged onto ground near a ravine or valley — it erodes the banks and damages vegetation. Backwash must be filtered and dechlorinated before storm discharge, otherwise it goes to the sanitary sewer.

Backflow testing

Annual backflow testing applies to industrial, commercial, institutional and Part 3 residential buildings. A detached house filling a pool from a hose bib is not part of that program.

Rules and fees change, and a large property can fall into a program an ordinary house does not. Confirm with Toronto or Toronto before you drain or book a test. City of Toronto — how to drain a pool · City of Toronto — backflow prevention

Close Toronto pools before the first hard freeze

Closings in Toronto run $450–$750 and include a line blowout, antifreeze and cover install. Water below 18°C is the trigger; waiting for the first freeze is how return lines split.

  • Clear leaves before the cover goes on — decaying debris stains liners and eats chlorine all winter.
  • Lower the water 6–12 inches below the skimmer, and never drain a vinyl pool.
  • Photograph the equipment pad and valve positions for the spring opening.

Etobicoke pool service FAQ

What does a pool opening cost in Etobicoke?

An inground opening in Etobicoke runs $425–$725, the same Toronto range as the rest of Toronto. Above-ground pools sit at the lower end. Algae treatment, water hauling and repairs found on site are quoted separately.

Do Toronto crews actually cover Etobicoke?

1 listed company serves Toronto, and Etobicoke sits inside the postal prefixes M4, M5, M6, M8, M9. Coverage is set by route density, so confirm the prefix when you call.

What affects access and price in Etobicoke?

Narrow side yards, locked gates, decking and street parking add labour in Etobicoke, and a hoist is sometimes needed if a liner cannot be carried in. Mention access when you request quotes so the first number is the final number.

When should I book in Etobicoke?

Book openings by late March for a late-April or early-May visit, and closings before the first week of October. Liner replacement is best scheduled between July and early September, when warm air lets the vinyl stretch into place.
